Upplev historisk kultur i Valletta!
Dags för ett restips! Vi på WBE Travel tipsar om Valletta, Malta – den minsta huvudstaden i EU.
Time for a travel tip! We at WBE Travel tips about Lapland – Sweden’s largest landscape.
Time for a travel tip! WBE Travel recommend you to visit Lapland – the northern part of Sweden.
The province’s located at the northernmost part of Sweden, bordering both Norway and Finland, making up a quarter of Sweden’s area.
Spend a few days in northern Lapland from November to March and seize the opportunity to see the Northern Lights, go dog sledding, and visit the Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi. In other words, the perfect trip to experience the Swedish winter, strengthen group dynamics, or start the upcoming year with an adventurous kick-off.
After an hour and a half flight from Stockholm, you find yourself in beautiful Kiruna, which is also the starting point for our favorite cities and activities in northern Lapland. We list them here:
Just over an hour’s journey from Kiruna you’ll find the small, but wonderful, Abisko. This village is one of the world’s best places to see the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis).
We recommend either going on a spectacular Northern Lights hike in Abisko National Park or witnessing the miracle comfortably from the STF Aurora Sky Station while enjoying a three-course dinner.
Tip! For the slightly more adventurous ones who want to experience the landscape during the day, there are snowmobile safaris. You’ll ride together along with a guide and will be guaranteed an adrenaline-filled experience while taking in the of the full beauty of Abisko National Park.
About 20 minutes from Kiruna, you’ll find the village Jukkasjärvi. Here you´ll find the famous Icehotel, attracting over 50,000 guests annually, completely built from ice. The two-ton ice blocks that create the walls and roof of the hotel are harvested from the Torne River (Torne Älv). The sculptures in the rooms are created by artists who travel to Jukkasjärvi from all across the world.
We recommend you stay at least one night at the Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi when you’re in the area, you’ll regret if you don’t! If you want to stay for a couple days in the area, the hotel recommends booking one night in an ice room and the rest of the time at the “regular” hotel.
Don´t miss! In addition to parts of the hotel being built of ice, there’s also the Icebar by Icehotel. At the Icebar you’ll drink cocktails in glasses made of ice, while sitting on a chair made of ice, at a table (you guessed it) made of ice! Ps. Don’t forget to dress warmly!
Last, but not least, we recommend you explore Kiruna. And especially the mine, which is the world’s largest underground mine for iron-ore. During the guided tour of the LKAB Visitor Centre (540 meters underground) you’ll learn about ore mining and the production of iron, whilst being in the authentic mining environment.
Want to spend more time outdoors and enjoy the Lapland landscape? Then a dog sledding tour is perfect! Experience the Northern Sweden nature at a breathtaking speed without using any motorized vehicle. (And you get to spend time with dogs!)
For those who have never tried dog sledding, the most accurate description is “silence, stillness, and action”. And it’s an experience that you (according to us) should do at least once in a lifetime.
Don´t miss! Sweden’s oldest hot dog stand, EMPES, is located in Kiruna. Why not try a “Tunnbrödsrulle” for lunch on your way to, or from, the airport? A semi-sweet flatbread filled with sausage, mashed potatoes, crisp onions, Swedish mustard, ketchup, and sweet relish.
We have extensive experience in producing group arrangements, events, business trips, and conferences.
